Kara C. Fleming has been practicing as an estate planning attorney for more than seventeen years. Her practice focuses on wills, trusts, disability management planning, powers of attorney, special needs trusts, probate and estate administration, ancillary probate, trust administration, estate and gift taxation and generation skipping transfer taxation. Kara represents clients throughout the State of Georgia with many different estate planning needs. An individualized estate plan is developed for each client, addressing the client's specific situation, goals and concerns. The comprehensive planning process includes putting the proper estate planning and disability management documents in place and advising the client on beneficiary designations, asset titling, asset allocations, asset and liability protection, liquidity planning and estate and gift tax minimization. Kara also represents executors, personal representatives and administrators in their fiduciary capacities in connection with the administration of decedents' estates in Georgia to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and the proper distribution of estate assets and discharge of liabilities. She has significant experience preparing and filing federal estate tax returns for decedents' estates. Kara advises trustees of lifetime and testamentary trusts on the proper administration of such trusts in accordance with the terms of the trust instrument, state income and principal accounting laws, federal estate tax laws and state and federal income tax laws. Kara graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1992 and earned her law degree cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1995. She was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1995 and is licensed to practice law in Georgia.

She entered private practice in 1998 and practiced as an estate planning attorney with the law firm of Scroggin & Co., P.C. in Roswell, Georgia for more than 11 years. She is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia (Fiduciary Section and Legislative Sub-Committee). She co-authored "Charitable Reverse Split Dollar Insurance," which was published in a two-part series in I, May and June 1998.
